Nico Valeriote is a singer-songwriter who performs indie-folk/rock music. Valeriote is based in Guelph Ontario, and is part of a band named You Might Be Sleeping. Valeriote performs in You Might Be Sleeping with two of his childhood friends. He has honed his craft in performing and in songwriting, which has developed a sound with thoughtful lyrics and original compositions. The band put out their first record, All Things Must Grow, in 2025 and has toured Ontario almost exclusively. Through their live shows and passionate performances, the band developed a steadily increasing fan base.

Valeriote has started a new independent music project under his name. His new music is based on a more intimate sound. He is focusing on a piano-driven sound, and his themes are more reflective. Writing about nostalgia, and reflecting personally is more vulnerable compared to what he has written in the past. Valeriote has written four songs for this project, and they are to be released sometime soon. He has worked with Mtchlrr and Owen Davey to produce his songs, spending two full days in the studio. Valeriote has performed these pieces in live shows, and even without an actual release, they have started to build a following.

While Valeriote works on more material, he is establishing himself as an adaptable artist who can transition between the full on energy of a band and the unfiltered sincerity of a single act. With new music approaching, his continuously evolving sound will take yet another exciting turn on his growing musical journey.
